Prerequisite: English 9
First semester the class will focus on English grammar. Students will review the 6-trait writing model by reading papers and evaluating them according to the rubric. We will enrich our vocabulary with weekly exercises and vocabulary tests. In addition, we will read the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Second semester the class will continue to focus on the eight parts of speech. We will write papers of five paragraphs or more using the 6-trait model. The class will read Julius Caesar. We will continue with weekly vocabulary enrichment.
