10th-12th grade Students develop knowledge of parenting responsibilities in the changing family structure. Units of study include: family planning, prenatal care, postnatal care, childbirth options, labor and birth processes, child safety, first aid, positive guidance of children, and child and maternal nutrition. The physical, emotional,social, and intellectual growth and development of children to age five is emphasized. Discussions of real-life scenarios develop problem-solving skills, strengthen the role of the family in society, and encourage resource management when balancing work and family.
