INTERNET/COMPUTER USE
Students will be able to use the Internet/computers after the school has on file a signed Internet usage form. This acceptable usage form explains the appropriate use of the Internet/computers and consequences for violating the guidelines. (Appendix A)

ELECTRONIC DEVICES
The use of portable radios, tape/cassette players, CD players, cellular phones, pagers, laser light pens and other forms of electronic devices can be disruptive to the educational process and may not be brought to school. Temporary confiscation will result if the rule is violated. Exceptions will be allowed on activity trips if approved be the sponsor(s). If required for classroom use, the tape/cassette players should be brought to and left in the office until needed for class. Other exceptions must be approved by the administration.

DRESS CODE
Good grooming and appropriate dress are essential to a good educational atmosphere; therefore, grooming and attire which detracts from that atmosphere will be considered inappropriate. Inappropriate clothing and unacceptable grooming will be defined as follows:
• Clothing which displays/advertises alcoholic beverages or tobacco products
• Clothing which displays or implies unacceptable language/messages torn, tattered or mutilated clothing
• Abbreviated clothing such as short-short; midriff shirts that don't fall below the belt line, etc.
• Hats and sunglasses will not be worn in the building during school hours
• Shirts without sleeves, such as tank tops for males, or spaghetti strap sun/blouses/dresses for females will not be allowed.
• Any hair color or style that is considered a distraction/offensive to students, faculty and/or administration will not be permitted
• Any apparel that the staff deems distracting to the educational process.
The principal will determine the appropriateness or extremeness of any questionable attire and/or grooming which is not addressed above.

PROMOTION POLICY 7TH & 8TH GRADES
Students must pass five of seven classes. Four of the five classes must be in the required subjects (English, math, science, civics, and physical education). English and math will be two of the four required to be passed.

Any student failing English and/or math will be required to attend summer school, and be successful, in order to be promoted. If the student decides not to attend summer school, the student will not be promoted to the next grade level.

CREDITS (HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION)
The Central Board of Education requires 23 credits to graduate. Students who enter as a junior must meet state requirements and/or requirements as set forth by the administration. Graduation requirements for 2006, 2007, and 2008:
4 units of English
3 units of social studies
2 units of science; 1 of which must be a lab science
2 units of math
1 unit of PE
11 units of elective credits

Graduation requirements for 2009 and beyond:
4 credits English
3 credits Science
3 credits Math*
3 credits Social Studies
1 credit Physical Education
1 credit Fine Arts**
8 elective credits
* only classes taken in grades 9-12 will count
** may be art, choir or band
