2017 Spelling Bee Winner Announced

Central Schools held their annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, January 11th, with 20 students in 4th through 8th grades participating.  Kristopher Harman earned first place, followed by Melissa Henderson in second place, Morgan Cook in 3rd place, and Branden Hudson in 4th place.  These 4 students will take part in the Cowley County Spelling Bee which will be held at Central Elementary School on Wednesday, January 25th at 9:00 am. Alternates for the county event are Mariah Blankenbaker and Jeremiah Smith.  Students from Dexter, Winfield, and Arkansas City will also take part. Central students participating  in the USD 462 competition included: 8th graders – Mariah Blankenbaker, Kristopher Harman, Melissa Henderson, Makenna McKamie; 7th graders – Morgan Cook, Branden Hudson, Ethan Powell, Makala Veale; 6th graders – Baileigh Goad, Sidney Gorton, Jeremiah Smith, Breanna Stevens; 5th graders – Brandon Johnson, Jaida McKamie, Hunter O’Neil, Russ Smith; 4th graders – Destiny Horn, Ivan Long, Josey Toon, Trystan Trefethan.
