Coaches Corner

Week of December 1st-5th

"Our girl's team answered some questions, I had going into the season with our younger players. If we can continue to get contributions from them on both ends, that should make us a solid team. I was pleased we could open at home with a win v.s. Marion and on the road at Attica. We will be playing in the Borden Queen Tournament this week and open with Douglass." Coach Ben Ponce said.

Week of December 8th-12th

CC - We opened the Border Queen tournament with a win against Douglass. Then we played two solid opponents South Haven and Argonia We will learn from our mistakes and work to be better for our next game at Bluestem.

Week of December 15th - 19th

CC - We set the tone in the first half on the defensive end. I was really pleased that our bench stepped up when we got into foul trouble. Hollie, Malorie, and Leah all gave quality minutes. Hopefully we continue to improve each game.

Week of Dec 29th - Jan 2nd

CC - We started slow but picked it up at the end of the first. We managed through some foul trouble but for the second game in a row our bench played quality minutes. Rylynn shot the ball well and Kari was solid on both ends.

Week of January 5th - 9th

CC - We did not come out with much energy vs CCA but changed that on the 2nd half. Unfortunately we had to big of a hole to climb out of. We played a much better game against Douglass. We lead most of the way and were able to hit some free throws to close it out.

Week of January 19th - 23rd

CC- we won the opening game in the and then had two tough losses. It was nice to see us compete against South Haven who we previously had not played well against. We get a rematch with FlintHills on Friday.

Week of January 26th - 30th

CC- we started well against Flint Hills but ultimately had two many missed shots and turnovers to overcome. We bounced back well at home against CVD. I thought our zone defense gave them problems and we were able to hold them off to get the win.

Week of February 2nd - 6th

CC- The girls came out and defend well and were able to score the ball inside. We did a great job of finding open players and have been better at turning the ball over.

Week of February 9th - 13th

CC- we picked up 2 good wins and put our winning streak at 5. It is good to be able to win close games especially on the road.

Player of the Week

Kari woods-Kari played solid defense and was able to be a consistent scorer in both games.

Alex Ponce-Alex Ponce she had a great attitude and played hard and had solid defense.

Malorie Prater - She came off the bench and scored and played good defense. She is starting to figure out how she can be effective an improves each week.

Kari Woods - she provided a spark when we were struggling in the first quarter. She played good defense that led to transition points and rebounded well

Rylynn David - She shot the ball well from the 3 point line and distributed the ball to her teammates acquiring 11 assist in two games.

Jessica Bell - She rebounded the ball well for us. As well as scoring inside against Caldwell.

Hollie McAlister - she played quality minutes off the bench and continues to work hard in practice.

Lena McGee - She stepped up her scoring the past 2 games as well as rebounding the ball at a high level.

Lilea Weigle - Lilea is improving every week on the defensive end and is aggressive in trying to score.

Rylynn David - was a clutch in both games knocking down free throws to help seal wins.
