USD 462 District Convocation! On Wednesday, staff kicked off the start of school with all district employees. We celebrated earning Full Accreditation from the Kansas BOE, attended training in the areas of Structured Literacy, District Assessments, Defensive Driving, and more! We are excited to begin a new school year!

The Central FFA Chapter had the opportunity to count laps for the Figure 8 races at the Cowley County Fair last saturday night. A Big thank you to the Cowley County Fair Association for allowing the Central FFA to help out.

Summer weights wraps up this week. We will finish testing tomorrow, Thursday August 1st and hold our annual kick ball tournament Friday August 2nd at 745 am in the gym. This is open to all summer weights sessions participants.

This morning the 1st two summer weights groups hosted Coach TJ Harris. Coach Harris spoke on what it takes to being a good prep student-athlete and preparing for the next step after graduation. Coach Harris is a 3x All-American and currently the jumps coach at San Jose St. Univ.

Reminder.....Fall Youth VB registration closes this Thursday, July 25. You can register your daughter at winfieldrec.com or fill out the attached forms and turn into the Winfield Rec Center. There are 2 divisions.....3rd & 4th grade and 5th grade. Please let Missy Atkins (matkins@usd462.org) know when you get your daughter signed up so she will be placed on the Central team.

The last two weeks have been busy for the 2024 Central High school Volleyball team. The team had a three day Camp in Wichita with WSU and a four day camp @ Central with direction from Coach Konrade. The girls have learned several new drills and techniques to help them prepare for the season ahead! Good luck on your season ladies!
Last week 2024 Central Graduate Katie Cook Earned the honor to travel to our nations capital (Washington DC) for a week with the Kansas FFA @ the National FFA Washington Leadership Conference. While there Katie was able to walk around Washington DC, Visit the capital building, do a little sightseeing, go through several museums, she even was able to help prepare (Meals of Hope) as a community service project, go on a night tour of DC, and visit Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the unknown soldier. Katie received a scholarship from the (Tribal Agriculture Fellowship). Katie wrote several agriculture essays, filled out questionnaires had zoom meeting, ect for the opportunity at the 100% scholarship and she won! Great job Katie Cook!
